New Xbox 360 Model Confirmed by Game Informer

According to Game Informer magazine, the new model of the Xbox 360 is coming this time — seriously. The new version will cost around $479 US and will include a 120 GB hard drive — 100 GB more than the current 360 hard drive. It will also sport HDMI output and include an HDMI cable. According to Kotaku, this is not a spoof or an early April Fool’s day joke; a senior editor at Game Informer confirmed to Kotaku that the story is true.

The new SKU, which has been previously referred to as the "Zephyr," has apparently received a name change to "Elite." As 1UP outlined, the black Elite will be available for only a limited time, and will then revert to the current color scheme sported by the Xbox 360. The system will also run cooler, although specifics are currently unavailable.

Considering the numbers of times that this rumor has surfaced, we’ll reserve our excitement until we receive an official word from Microsoft. But, it’s for that very same reason that we’re willing to believe the Elite really is coming.
