Newly announced games – the E3 Jr. edition: 5/6 to 5/12

gamer1Around this time, GN would be knee-deep in the zany events that are E3. But now that it’s downsized, that doesn’t mean companies aren’t still churning out mega game announcements. So prepare yourselves for some meaty new game announcements for this week.

First up, for the past few days, this site has been teasing gamers. But this week, Funcom (Age of Conan, Anarchy Online and The Longest Journey series) officially announced a brand-new MMORPG titled; The Secret World for the PC and Xbox 360. According to the press release, the game has been in-development since last summer and is currently in a playable state. No release date has been announced as of yet.

Next up is this press release from Crytek (Far Cry, Crysis) stating they have beefed up one of their support studios, Crytek Kiev, and they’re currently working on a brand-new game. No other information has been mentioned but it’ll most definitely use their CRYEngine 2.gamer2

Fan site Seriously! has word that the imminent announcement of Serious Sam 3 may be on the horizon. The next issue of GamePlay magazine will feature, among other things, an interview with Croteam that’ll reveal a few of their upcoming projects — including Serious Sam 3 and another unnamed project.

According to this press release, English developer, Blade Interactive, announced their debut game titled Hydrophobia. The title is a survival adventure game where the environments will be dynamically flooded. The game will also use Blade’s new HydroEngine, which will showcase its robust water rendering abilities. More information about the game can be read here. It’s currently slated for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Playten and WorldForge announced The Golden Horde, an upcoming historical RTS game. It’s slated for release this fall and will use the same engine used on Ancient Wars: Sparta. The game will feature gameplay mechanics like the creation of units by players, capture of enemy equipment, and real-world physics. There will be three sides: Crusaders, Russians and Mongols.

Also don’t forget that SEGA , Sony Online Entertainment, and Square Enix made its big announcements on new games last week.
