Nintendo Apologizes for DS Shortages.

An apology by Nintendo has been posted on the company’s Japanese website for the lack of availability of the popular portable gaming system. Nintendo said that the demand for the system exceeded what the company had anticipated, and thus lead to a shortage in the system. This comes as a reported one million units were sold in the two weeks before the Christmas holiday. Nintendo intends to supply retail outlets with DS units on a weekly basis while increasing its production through late January. The Nintendo DS currently retails for $149.99 in the United States and a price drop for the system to $139.99 is likely.
