Nintendo dominates Famitsu game awards

Famitsu has announced the winners for its top games of 2006. The results were compiled from the tallied votes of the editorial staff of Famitsu and over 30,000 reader recommendations. Any game that was released between January and December of 2006 was eligible for the awards.

Nintendo garnered the Game of the Year award for Pokemon Pearl/Diamond, which tied Final Fantasy XII. Other categories Nintendo won included:

Best Hit: Pokemon Pearl/Diamond
Innovation Award: Wii Sports
Rearrange Award: Super Mario Bros.
High Performance Award: Zelda: Twilight Princess
Game Company of the Year: Nintendo
Game Character of the Year: Mario

Other publishers took away awards in other categories:

Best Dramatic Game: Yakuza (Ryu Ga Gotoku 2), Sega
Game Design Award: Okami, Capcom
Best Mulitplayer Game: Monster Hunter 2, Capcom
Impact Award: Dead Rising, Capcom
