Nintendo topples the great EA

Yayyy!Game Developer magazine does an annual Top 20 publishers report, and for the past four years Electronic Arts has reigned supreme. The selection process is done by over 300 industry professionals, whose specializations cover the entire spectrum of the game production process.

In its fifth annual year, a new king has finally been crowned: Nintendo. Game Developer magazine added a reputation-based feedback element to the survey for the judges this year. Simon Carless, publisher of Game Developer magazine attributes "the rise of casual gaming, coupled with these new reputation elements" as key factors that "contributed markedly to ranking shifts."

See EA? It pays to be nice. I guess four golds and one silver ain’t half bad though. The other companies in the top five are Activision, Ubisoft, and THQ.

The full countdown overview is available in the October 2007 issue of Game Developer magazine.
