No 65nm CPUs in Xbox 360 HDMI models yet. Bah.

xbox360cpuWhile all newly manufactured Xbox 360 premium models will be getting an HDMI port, no strings attached, it looks like Microsoft is holding off on attaching other upgrades to them, for example, the long-rumored new CPU.

According to IGN, the new 65nm CPU is still being kept under wraps and the new Xbox 360 premiums are still being powered by the same 90nm CPU.

But mirroring their comments about continual upgrades for the Xbox 360, the premium models still got a little makeover; including another heat-pipe to cool the GPU and a newer and quieter DVD drive.

Many are suspecting that if and when Microsoft starts producing the new 65-nm CPU, it’ll just be a relatively sneaky introduction, much like the introduction of the HDMI ports. So don’t expect a massive parade and dancing clowns about the new Xbox 360 CPU, but that may make the introduction better since we all like surprises!
