One-third of Xbox 360 owners don't know about XBLA

xblaIn a survey of over 1800 U.S. households, about one third of the Xbox 360 owners have never heard or used Xbox Live Arcade. In a study conducted by Frank N. Magid Associates, 64% said they play games online with their Xbox 360 and 28% have actually bought games through Xbox Live Arcade.

While 70% have used Xbox Live Arcade in one form or another, either to try free games or to actually buy games, the other one-third haven’t heard of the gaming service. Considering the vast success of Xbox Live Arcade, as of March 2007, over 25 million downloads was made on the service, looks like a number of 360 owners simply don’t know about it.

Speaking about the survey though, out of the 1800 households that were asked to participate, only 149 actually owned an Xbox 360. While the 8% seems a bit low, my guess is that there were households who were educated about gaming and knew about the different Xbox 360 services, but just didn’t happen to own one.

In the meantime, us gamers should use our superior gaming minds to educate the people who don’t know about Xbox Live Arcade because there’s some good stuff on there.
