Orange Box gets even sweeter with TF2 Beta access

Half-Life 2 Orange BoxThe Half-Life Orange Box is pretty much the videogame feel good story of the year. It’s one of the notable few times in videogame history when a videogame company banded together to actually give their customers a good deal rather than trying to milk every penny they possibly can.

Maybe it’s because Gabe Newell and Valve itself is filthy stinkin’ rich, who knows. The important part is that the deal just got a little bit sweeter. I know, it’s hard to believe that a package that offers three games and two expansion packs for $60 could get even sweeter.

Valve announced today though that those who preorder the package for PC are going to save 10% on the price. Not only that, but they will be given access to the Team Fortress 2 beta test that will be starting up September 17.

Seriously, I can’t think of a single package in videogame history that was sweeter than this one. Videogame companies take note: gamers don’t like being screwed. In fact, the Orange Box and the incredible deals within is exactly the kind of thing that wins over gamers and turns them into lifelong fanboys who would rather die face down in the mud than hear your brand affronted.
