Peter Molyneux Honored with Knighthood

Last month, the French government honored Lionhead Studios’ head, Peter Molyneux, with the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et de Lettres. As of March 12, 2007, Mr. Molyneux is now a knight in the Order of Arts and Letters, and joins the ranks of gaming industry figures Michel Ancel, Shigeru Miyamoto and Frederick Raynal, who received the honor last year.

This award is given in recognition of significant contributions to the arts and literature, and former recipients include David Bowie, William Faulkner, and Allen Ginsberg.

Molyneux responded humbly at the ceremony, saying, "I am extremely proud to have received this honour and would like to thank the French Ministry of Culture for this recognition. I would also like to say that I see this as a credit for everyone at Lionhead Studios. All our games are a team effort – I am just the figurehead. It is fantastic to see video games honoured in this way."

Yes, it is fantastic. When will the US respond to the games industry like this?
