PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale revealed, coming this year

After months of rumors and speculation, Sony has finally unveiled its Super Smash Bros-esque brawler, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Developed by SuperBot, a brand new studio hand-picked for this game, Battle Royale features four-player battles in PlayStation-inspired worlds.

The current roster of characters includes Kratos (God of War), Sly Cooper, Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), Colonel Redec (Killzone), Fat Princess, and Parappa the Rapper. Each character will have their own distinct move set — Kratos will wield the Blade of Chaos, while Sweet Tooth will use mines and his shotgun. Sly Cooper forgoes blocking in favor of invisibility and moving in the background.

Fat Princess will be able to call upon her royal subjects, and Colonel Redec will have his trusty sniper rifle. Parappa will make use of his skateboard and his kung-fu training from Chop Chop Master Onion.

Stages in the game feature mash-ups of two franchises. While fighting on the LittleBigPlanet stage, the Buzz! quiz show will burst in with trivia questions, and the army of rhythmic creatures from Patapon will be causing a bit of havoc for Hades when you fight in the underworld.

Battle Royale will also feature third-party licensed characters, items, and stages. Sony and SuperBot currently plan to release Battle Royale this year for the PlayStation 3.
