Pokemon White and Black heading for North America March 6

Players will get to explore this new Pokemon region in Black and White.

Nintendo has announced today the official release date of the latest Pokémon installments, Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, for North America. The new versions that will once again bring in over 150 new Pokémon and a new region to the games’ world will be arriving March 6.

As is tradition with the series, certain Pokémon will only appear in each version such as Legendary Pokémon Reshiram for Black and Legendary Pokémon Zekrom for White. But that isn’t all that is different between the two versions, as they will have something different between each other that no other Pokémon generation has had before.

Pokémon White and Pokémon Black will each have their own unique areas in the game. The metropolitan area of Black City will be included in Pokémon Black, while the natural White Forest will be featured in Pokémon White.

The two new versions of the series will also feature changing seasons for the first time. The changing seasons will determine how often certain Pokémon will show up and whether or not players can access certain areas of the game.

"Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version represent a generational leap forward for the renowned series, delivering an unprecedented number of new Pokémon to catch, battle and trade," said Nintendo of America’s director of Public Relations Marc Franklin. "Whether you have played the Pokémon video games before or are just getting interested in them, you won’t want to miss Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version."

The games are currently set to release at an estimated price of $34.99 exclusively for the Nintendo DS.
