PS3 version of Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light gets online co-op, free DLC

The PS3 finally gets the online co-op.

A month ago Xbox Live got an update for Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light that finally allowed for online co-op in addition to an offer of free DLC for 30 days. Now that update and offer have made their way to the PlayStation 3.

Players of the PS3 version of the game will now have fully functional online co-op via the PlayStation Network and are being given the chance to download the newest DLC, "Things That Go Boom" for free over the next 30 days. After those 30 days are up, the DLC will still be available in the PlayStation Store for $3.50.

"Things That Go Boom" is a separate DLC offering from "All the Trappings", the DLC pack that came with the Xbox Live update. According to the press release, it will include "four new explosive challenge maps featuring a variety of tense puzzles, deadly traps, and relentless combat encounters."

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light was well received by GamerNode, but the lack of online co-op was seen as something that could make the game feel like a letdown to some players. Now thanks to the update, this is no longer an issue.
