Psychological Study Shows Xbox 360 Logo Is More "Powerful"

Will Microsoft,s next ad campaign slogan for their Xbox 360 be called “Feel the Power”? We don,t know, but according to a recent research survey conducted by Anderson Analytics, this is exactly how participants felt after being subjected to various tests and surveys regarding the Xbox 360.

The study was done with “text mining software” to assess and determine the “subconscious effects of the brand logo or advertising." Individuals who took part in the experiment were asked to write a short story immediately after viewing various product brand logos. The research firm found that boys, who viewed Microsoft,s Xbox 360 logo, felt more “power motivated” and self confident, as compared to viewing Sony,s PS3 logo. The study also found, however, that the boys also experienced feelings of “increased levels of distrust,” after seeing the Xbox logo.

According to Tom Anderson, lead researcher at Anderson Analytics, "Our findings confirm that brand advertising can increase positive attitudes and perceptions. The reverse is also true. Some ads actually decrease brand trust in the target market. That’s why it’s more important than ever for marketers to pay attention to psychological profiles and the power of the subconscious mind."
