Red Faction 3 confirmed… for the 2nd time this year.

RF3One of the defining titles of last generation was Volition’s Red Faction. When it was released early on in the Playstation 2’s life cycle, it featured a unique environmental destruction technology known as Geo-mod.

With that, gamers could live their ultimate action hero fantasies by blowing or shooting up their surroundings without giving it all a second thought.

Even though the series saw the release of a second installment circa fall of 2002, we really haven’t heard much about the third title other than the fact it was coming after a brief mentioning of it in a THQ conference call held in February of this year.

Fortunately for those of you who were concerned about the status of the project due to its absence at this year’s rather underwhelming E3, THQ’s CEO, Brian Farrell, confirmed that the project is still in development in yet another recent conference call.

Mr. Farrell refused to provide any specifics as to who’s at the reigns of the game’s development or when we’ll actually hear more about it, but let’s keep our toes crossed that it’ll be sooner rather than later (and hopefully not at another quarterly conference call, either).
