Report: Kaz Hirai to become President of Sony

Reports have surfaced that Sony will be promoting current Executive Deputy President Kaz Hirai to president as early as April. Howard Stringer will retain his current roles as chairman and CEO of the company.

Hirai was promoted twice last year and, as the reports state, it is not surprising that he is the one Sony is targeting to make the transition to president, a position that the company has been attempting to fill since November 2010.

After the initial reports surfaced, Sony issued a brief statement to Bloomberg that the board has not made a final decision regarding the filling the president’s seat.

Stay tuned for more on this front.
