Rockstar finally settles confusion over Rockstar Pass, L.A. Noire DLC

L.A. Noire

A few weeks back, Rockstar Games told the world that L.A. Noire would feature the Rockstar Pass, which it then proceeded to give absolutely no details on aside from that it would have something to do with L.A. Noire DLC. Now the publisher has revealed just what the Rockstar Pass will do, sort of.

The details are a bit jumbled and confusing, so in the spirit of L.A. Noire, some good old fashion detective work needs to be used to decipher what it all means.

Essentially, the Rockstar Pass will give all players access to all of the publisher’s currently planned DLC for the game over the summer in return for one single payment. Think of it along the lines of BioWare’s Cerberus Network for Mass Effect 2.

Starting today, that payment will be $10 on PSN or 800 Microsoft Points. When the calander flips to June 14, the cost for the pass will then be raised to $12 on PSN or 960 Microsoft Points.

What this one-time payment will get players is four new cases, two new suit/gun combos, and a challenge mission. The first five will be available instantly and include "The Naked City" Vice case, "A Slip of the Tongue" Traffic case, the Badge Pursuit Challenge, and the Broderick/Sharpshooter suits and guns.

Arriving later will be the "Nicholson Electroplating" Arson case on June 21 and the "Reefer Madness" Vice case on July 12. All cases will cost $4/320 Microsoft Points, suits and guns will be $1/80 Microsoft Points each, and the Badge Pursuit Challenge will run players $2/160 Microsoft Points.

"With its blend of real crime influences and noir atmosphere, L.A. Noire contains boundless potential for new stories and new cases," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games, in a press release. "The four new cases are strong standalone stories that sit perfectly alongside the main game."

In addition to all of the content that comes at a price, Rockstar is giving away the Chicago Piano Machine Gun to the community free of charge. The weapon is a compliment for the free Chicago Lightning Detective Suit available for download for members of the Rockstar Social Club, which is also joinable at no price.
