Sonic Adventure 2 HD officially announced for XBLA and PSN

In a coy video, Sega has officially, for real, and definitely confirmed the existence of Sonic Adventure 2 for XBLA and PSN at this weekend’s San Diego Comic Con.

Rumors started circulating about the imminent announcement of Sonic Adventure 2 last month after a listing on Xbox.com went up, and then swiftly got taken down again, but not before hundreds of the games fans spread news of its existence to the farthest reaches of the internet. After the release of the first Sonic Adventure on XBLA and PSN, I guess everyone had thought it an inevitability, anyway.

The Sonic Boom event at this weekend’s San Diego Comic Con busted the lid in an official manner, to a crowd of enthusiastic fans. The short trailer acknowledges Sega’s inability to keep a tight cover on the imminent digital conversion, and simply shows off the Sonic Adventure 2 logo.

Sonic Adventure 2 will be “leaking onto consoles this Fall,” according to the teaser, but last month’s leaked online listing had a 3rd of October release date attached.

I can’t wait to hatch some Chao eggs while J-rocking out to some Crush 40, but in the meantime you can catch the announcement below, as well as the enthusiastic crowd response.
