Sony: "10 years for PS3." But how is it doing NOW?

PSeConsoles"We didn’t get into PS3 for the first six months of 2007 – we’re into this for the next 10 years and beyond," said SCEA President Jack Tretton, in reference to early Playstation 3 sales figures.

Since its release, the PS3 has sold 1.2 million consoles in the U.S. The Nintento Wii launched two days later than Sony’s console, and has sold 2.1 million units, but according to Tretton, "A million units one way or another at this point isn’t going to worry us."

So Sony is playing the long-term game, but is it going to work? Kyoshi Shin of the IGDA says "When people talk about the PS3 on chat forums, they say it’s like going to a very expensive restaurant and not getting anything to eat."

Come to think of it…what happened to that Metal Gear Solid sandwich I ordered last year?
