Sony Slams Halo 3 via Wikipedia

Halo 3Some days Sony doesn’t seem to understand how to utilize the internet. One moment they’re hitting their PR out of the park, and the next moment they’re walking in sludge. Sony’s latest move has hit a new low. According to Team Xbox, someone from Sony has been editing the entries about Halo 3 on Wikipedia.

"The Wikipedia Scanner has revealed that a computer with the ip address 217.18.23.2 edited the entry of Halo 3 back in April, adding the following line:

Halo 3, the third game in the best-selling Xbox game franchise Halo, is a highly anticipated first-person shooter video game under development by Bungie Studios for the Xbox 360 and is expected to "set a new high water mark" for next-generation games, although it wont look any better than Halo 2.

A query on the IP address shows it belongs to the scee.com domain name, which is the official site for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe."

Let’s hope for Sony’s sake that this is merely a rogue employee, and not an officially sanctioned act. If it is official then this is a new, yet humorous, low for Sony’s PR to stoop to.
