Spore coming "before holidays", other EA game delays

sporeIn a follow-up conference call, EA quietly revealed updated release dates to a few of their games.

First, Pandemic Studios’ upcoming action game Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2) was delayed again; if you remember back in September, the game was pushed back till early 2008. The game is now expected during EA’s next fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 2008 and runs till March 31, 2009.

The game will join Battlefield: Bad Company (Xbox 360, PS3), the upcoming console-exclusive FPS, which has also been delayed till EA’s next fiscal year too. Its unknown how this will impact EA’s other Battlefield-related game, Battlefield Heroes, which was revealed a few days ago.

For you Spore fans, EA CEO John Riccitiello mentioned that Spore (PC, Mac, mobile, DS) is still on track for release in 2008. Riccitiello said, "We’re not announcing dates for any of our titles. We will tell you it’s gonna be before the holidays. I’ve personally played the software and it is very impressive."

Lastly, EA mentioned that they’ll be publishing BioWare’s upcoming RPG Dragon Age. The game has been under a code of secrecy for quite some time, so EA/BioWare remained tight-lipped about the game during the conference call. The game is also expected during EA’s next fiscal year.
