EA’s reboot of the classic snowboarding franchise SSX looks to be getting online multiplayer soon, or so a new video from the publisher would suggest.
SSX was released way back in February to almost universal praise, but everyone was left asking one thing: where’s the online multiplayer? SSX is coming back to answer that question with an upcoming title update that will add an online multiplayer mode for five players.
The following video was put up on the EA Sports YouTube channel over the weekend, and while it doesn’t explicitly mention the addition of online multiplayer, it heavily implies it.
SSX, as it stands now, has asynchronous multiplayer in the form of highscores and ghosts, but players cannot race alongside one another in real time.
GamerNode praised SSX for “its ability to provide consistent thrills and — for those who played previous iterations — a wickedly nostalgic atmosphere,” but called the game out for its lack of online multiplayer.
