This Week In Microtransactions: 3/6 to 3/14

Over in the green grass of Xbox Live Arcade, things are getting a little greener. Worms was released last Wednesday for download, landing in at 800 Microsoft Points–making your (virtual) wallet ten dollars lighter. It’s fairly close to the original PC release that you may or may not remember, so if you liked it then, you’ll still like it now. TMNT: The Arcade Game should be available today, so set your phasers to "purchase right away," especially considering the mystifyingly low price of five bucks.

The Wii Virtual Console saw three games released this past Monday, including Tecmo Bowl, Sonic Spinball, and Double Dungeons. (Not Double Dragon; don’t get too excited.) Tecmo Bowl was a classic from the NES days, and at 500 Wii Points ($5), the price is right. Sonic Spinball–a Sega Genesis oldie–is also worth considering. Double Dungeons is iffy; 600 Wii Points ($6) might be a lot to ask for an archaic Turbo Graphix-16 RPG from the 80s. Chances are there are value meals more worthy of your cash than this one.

The Sony Store got the original WipeOut this week for six bucks. However, it’s only playable on the PSP. So, if you don’t own Sony’s portable, don’t bother. It is exactly how you remember it though, which means slow-building, but fast-paced, futuristic hovercraft racing. A recommendable purchase, if you meet the PSP requirements.
