Three PSP Slim bundles on pre-order at Amazon

PSP SlimThe new redesigned PSP is just around the corner and Amazon is already jumping on the bandwagon by offering three different packages for pre-order, reports Qj.net. They are offering plenty of options for those eager to get their hands on Sony’s latest portable gaming power house.

The first of these bundles will be the Sony PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack Bundle. Included with the new PSP will also be a copy of the PSP adventure game Daxter as well as the PSP in eye-blistering silver. If silver doesn’t appeal, Sony also has the Sony PSP Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron Entertainment Pack Bundle. Along with a white PSP complete with Darth Vader’s mug on the back, potential PSP owners will also receive a copy of Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. Both the Daxter and Star Wars bundles will cost gamers two hundred dollars.

But let’s say someone just wants to purchase the PSP itself. Sony has that covered too. With the Sony PlayStation 2000 System gamers get just the redesigned PSP with no extras. This SKU comes in at a cheaper one hundred seventy-dollars and is a nice option for those looking just to upgrade their portable unit.

So what makes this new "Slim" version of the PSP worth the purchase? For starters it is 33% percent lighter and 19% thinner making it easier to take with you when on those portable gaming excursions. It also has the ability to stream video from the PSP directly to the TV, and load UMDs faster thanks to improved caching built into the system.

I’ve never felt the urge to pick up Sony’s Portable system and even though it is receiving an upgrade, I’m still not sold. For me the games are more important, and I’ve yet to discover the PSP game which sells the system for me. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops came close, but until I see some more original content I’ll wait on the PSP.
