Transformers: Fall of Cybertron announced for 2012

Fans of Optimus Prime and Megatron rejoice! Activision officially announced today that the anticipated game Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be released in the fall of 2012.

While details about the game still haven’t been released, fans can expect to finally witness and participate in the final hours of the civil war between the Autobots and the Decepticons as they fight for control of their dying home, Cybertron. The game is being developed by High Moon Studios who previously developed the game adaptation of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

In a press release, David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing, thinks the game will be a big achievement by saying, "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is an extraordinary project both for the studio and the Transformers gaming legacy — the stakes are higher and the scale much larger than ever before, and we absolutely cannot wait for fans to see all the new characters and epic action that awaits them."

Mark Blecher, the SVP of Digital Media and Marketing at Hasboro, is also excited about the upcoming title and the new story it will bring, saying, "Hasbro has worked hand in hand with Activision to create a fully original storyline that details the climactic battles leading to the famed exodus of the Transformers characters from Cybertron."
