Twilight Princess Joins the Revolution

By Frank Ling, GN Writer Thursday, December 29, 2005 In a report found in NGC Magazine, the next Zelda game, “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess”, for the GameCube, will be playable on the Revolution. Big whoop, right? Not so fast buddy, the real story concerns what the game will be controlled by. If you,ve been keeping up with the next-gen scene, you already know that a storm of controversy has surrounded Nintendo,s Revolution. And that the controversy is about the controller, not the machine. The new controller is operated by one hand and resembles a TV remote control. The new device caused outright criticism and scorn once it was revealed. But then again, the same reactions occurred when the Wright Brothers first exhibited their flying machine, so there. The news about the new Zelda title is that it will be playable using the new controller. According to NGC, "Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming console’s unique controller. Twilight Princess will still be released on GameCube – there’s no denying that fact. However, when you insert the disc into your Revolution, you’ll be given the option to use the Revolution’s controller, with all of the advantages that this will bring." And one might add, with all its disadvantages, as well. It is still too early to tell if the new Revolution controller will be a de-evolution or revolution, but if the reports are correct, Nintendo is serious about mainstreaming its device to the gaming world. “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess” is scheduled for release in the spring of 2006.
