Unreal Tournament 3 for PS3 to Support Mouse and Keyboard

Unreal Tournament 3 News ImageGamersReports has revealed that Unreal Tournament 3 for the PlayStation 3 will support the mouse and keyboard as an alternative for the traditional controller. This info comes via the official Unreal Tournament 3 boards where Mark Rein himself confirmed the rumors.

"Folks,

I checked with Steve Polge and he said that YES we are supporting keyboard and mouse in Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3. He is confident we are doing it in a way that will be balanced without feeling "gimped" for either side. We’ll also allow people to choose whether or not they want to allow mixed controller vs. keyboard/mouse games or not.

I think you guys are going to love UT3!

More details to come later."

One has to really wonder about how Epic will balance the significant advantage the mouse and keyboard has over a controller. It can probably be assumed there isn’t much one can do without significantly effecting one of the control schemes, and thus the advantages may not change. The biggest evidence of this is gamers can choose to avoid matches with a mix of mouse and controller control schemes. If there wasn’t an advantage issue, this option would not be available. It will be interesting to see, once Unreal Tournament 3 ships, which is preferred among the PlayStation 3 owners.

Unreal Tournament 3 for the PlayStation 3 launches this holiday season.
