Video gaming – twice as big as music by 2011

Nate Anderson over at Ars Technica has produced a bunch of colorful graphs that undeniably conclusively proves indicate like crazy that the video game industry will grow to twice the size of the music industry by 2011.

What does this mean for gamers? Well, a little bit more respect for the medium, that’s for sure; games are becoming more of a mainstream activity. It’s just too bad that we always get demonized anyway. Maybe that will change once we’ve firmly established entertainment dominance.

Further, the ESA may wield more power, although that isn’t necessarily the best of news. The ESA, notorious for doing an semi-adequate job of representing the industry, may be taking a different direction with new president Michael D. Gallagher, but it’s still early to come to any conclusions.
