World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria coming September 25

Get ready to play as those kung-fu pandas!

World of Warcraft players will finally be getting their new expansion — and the ability to play as a panda — in exactly two months as Blizzard has announced that Mists of Pandaria will release on September 25.

The expansion will be compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac. It will retail for $39.99 both in-store and online through World of Warcraft‘s official website.

But Blizzard isn’t satisfied with just giving fans the regular edition. Mists of Pandaria will also feature a Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe version.

In addition to a digital copy of the game, the Digital Deluxe version will feature these in-game items:

  • World of Warcraft In-Game Imperial Quilen Flying Mount
  • World of Warcraft In-Game Lucky Quilen Cub Pet
  • StarCraft II Infested Orc and Night Elf Templar Battle.net Portraits
  • Diablo III Pandaren Banner Sigil and Accent

The Collector’s Edition will include all of these items as well as a DVD-ROM copy of Mists of Pandaria, behind-the-scenes DVD and Blu-Ray, Collector’s Edition soundtrack CD, “The Art of Mists of Pandaria” book, and Chen Stormstout mouse pad.

For those uninformed on this new direction for the incredibly popular MMO, the expansion features a brand new continent named Pandaria, thought lost and now rediscovered by battling warships of the Horde and Alliance. It will include the new playable race of pandaren, a new monk class, co-op PvE trials known as scenarios, challenge modes, new dungeons, and a pet battle system.

An interesting fact about the Mists of Pandaria‘s release: It comes exactly one month after early access begins for Guild Wars 2, which releases on August 28.

Do you think Blizzard made the expansion’s release date this close Guild Wars 2‘s on purpose? Are you looking forward to all the new content the expansion brings? Let us know in the comments section!
