Angry Birds Trilogy announced for PS3, 360 and 3DS

Angry Birds Trilogy

Earlier this year at E3 it was revealed that Angry Birds would be heading to consoles this holiday season. Now developer Rovio has revealed the first details on the upcoming entry in the famed franchise, including a 3DS version.

Angry Birds Trilogy will include the original game, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Rio. Each title will come with individual leaderboards, and Microsoft Kinect, PlayStation Move and StreetPass support is included for the respective versions.

Rovio Executive Vice President of Games Petri Järvilehto hinted at extra content for the upcoming release.

“You can think of the game as the ultimate collector’s edition,” he said. “There are new cinematics, extras and other entertaining content. In addition all of the existing material has been uprezzed and re-treated for the high-resolution and big screen.”

Järvilehto also explained the reasoning behind a console version of Angry Birds, citing pleas from the fanbase.

“There have been so many fans asking to be able to play the game on their home console with their friends and family, and so far we haven’t been able to offer anything to them,” he said. “Now we’re finally able to have a great high quality experience on those platforms.”

No specific price points or release dates have been revealed at this point, but that information is sure to come in the near future.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
