Crysis Warhead comes to Steam (and Crysis tags along)

Remember Crysis? You know, that one game. It looked good, or something. I can’t quite remember what it is, to be honest-I don’t think they advertised it enough or talked about it enough in the media.

Anyway, the follow-up to this "Crysis," called Crysis Warhead, is due out sometime this month. (Or, if you want to get technical, Tuesday.) If that interests you at all, it may also interest you to know that the game will be appearing on Steam, and will be available for pre-purchase starting this weekend.

"The millions of gamers logging into Steam every week to play today’s best PC games are going to love Crysis Warhead," said Avni Yerli, Managing Director at Crytek. "Crytek Hungary has done a terrific job creating this new experience while optimizing CryEngine 2, and we’re looking forward to delivering it and the original Crysis as our first offerings on Steam."

Not only will Crysis Warhead be available on Steam, but the original Crysis will also be made available. Not a huge shock for a hit PC game to come out on Steam these days, until you remember that Crysis is EA’s baby, and they’ve been trying very hard to promote their own download service for quite some time now.

So is the release of Warhead on Steam just further post-Orange Box signs of EA and Valve getting buddy buddy? Or is it an early sign that EA is giving up on their own download service?
