El Shaddai: Ascension of the Matatron gets a spring Japanese release date

El Shaddai

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Matatron is a game that has been slowly gaining hype for it’s impressive art style. There is no confirmed release date for North America, but the game has been given an April 28, 2011 release for Japan.

The game is being developed by an impressive pedigree of developers whose credits include Okami, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil. El Shaddai: Ascension of the Matatron is being directed by Sawaki Takeyasu, who was the art director for Okami. Needless to say, with Takeyasu in charge, it’s a sure bet that it’s going to be a pretty game.

Straight from the press release:

"El Shaddai: Ascension of the Matatron is an epic original action adventure game inspired by an alternate telling of biblical mythology as narrated in the ‘heretical’ Book of  Enoch, part of the Dead Sea Scrolls."

Check out the trailer below to see the game in motion, and scroll down a bit further to a number of new screen shots. Go ahead and make sure to cross your fingers crossed for the North American release, also.
