Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet trailer

It seems like artistic downloadable indie games are the all the rage for developers right now, with the recent releases and subsequent successes of puzzle heavy games like Braid and P.B. Winterbottom, action side-scrollers like Castle Crashers, and now the yet to be classified Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. If you had to call it anything, it might be a Geometry Wars type of puzzle-space-shooter, but it’s clear from the unbelievably epic trailer that more remains to be seen of this title.

Destructoid recently confirmed that ITSP will be hitting XBLA in addition to the PC, though no news on when.  The trajectory of this game has been kind of odd, beginning in 2005 with artist Michel Gagne’s short short clips created for Nickelodeon, titled Insaneley Twisted Shadow Puppets. But while the ideas may not have made a huge splash at the television network, in 2007 Gagne was noticed by FuelCell Games and asked to provide art direction for their upcoming title. Very little information has come out since then, until this trailer emerged a little while ago.

This is absolutely one to keep your eye on. If nothing else, watch the shorts and the trailer, and marvel in the dark, unique, and, well, twisted forms.
