Konami debunks Metal Gear Solid 5 Comic-Con rumors

Metal Gear Solid 5

This past weekend at Comic-Con, screenshots were leaked indicating the existence of Metal Gear Solid 5 and its connection to Hideo Kojima’s “Project Ogre.” Despite the rumors, Konami is claiming the images are fake.

Konami’s UK Twitter account started off by declaring the company’s love of speculation, but a later tweet discounted the buzz at Comic-Con.

“Seriously, just in case the ‪#pinch‬ ‪#salt‬ hashtags weren’t enough – the chap who claims to have set up the fake rumours has been in touch,” read the message.

Kojima was at Comic-Con this weekend though, showing something exciting behind closed doors. Epic Games’ Cliff Bleszinski even tweeted about it, saying, “Just got pulled into a back room at Comic Con by @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN and showed some crazy new secret stuff. Wow.”

Perhaps Kojima was showing “Project Ogre,” or Metal Gear Solid 5 could have made an appearance at Comic-Con despite Konami’s insistence otherwise. Hopefully more information will be revealed in the coming months.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
