Konami reveals Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Metal Gear Solid

Back in July Hideo Kojima hinted at a big announcement regarding the new Fox Engine. It turns out the engine is being used to develop a brand new game in the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

People in Japan were shown realtime footage of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, an open-world entry in the famed series. Although guests were asked not to discuss what they saw in an open forum, quite a few posts popped up on Twitter.

Apparently the game was demoed on a current-gen PC, and fans were impressed by the Fox Engine visuals. One tweet even went into some gameplay details:

“Snake crawled @ avoiding searchlights, killed guard, rode jeep, called in heli for evac. Sounds like MG, but the scale & atmosphere… Wow.”

It’s unknown when Konami will unveil more information about Ground Zeroes to the rest of the world, but hopefully it’s in the very near future. In the meantime, gamers can take a look at the first artwork piece for the game, obtained by Japanese magazine Famitsu.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
