Live-action Black Ops II trailer to debut tonight

Black Ops 2

The November 13 release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops II is fast-approaching, and now fans can build up the anticipation even further by tuning into the game’s live-action trailer debut tonight.

According to an Activision press release, the 60-second trailer – titled “Surprise” – is directed by Guy Ritchie and features film superstar Robert Downey Jr. Other celebrities will make cameo appearances, including French comedic actor Omar Sy.

The trailer will first be revealed during tonight’s Monday Night Football telecast in the US. Following that, the video “will rollout worldwide across high-profile telecasts including elite European football matches.”

Tim Ellis, CMO of Activision Publishing, commented on the huge marketing campaign for Black Ops II and the fervor behind the game’s upcoming launch.

“With Call of Duty we are re-writing the rule-book of how games are marketed,” he said. “This is more than a product launch, it’s become a cultural event. And, what Treyarch has created this year with Call of Duty: Black Ops II is nothing short of the most innovative Call of Duty title yet.”

Past numbers for Call of Duty first-day sales have been staggering, so there’s no reason to see that trend changing this year. With the Iron Man actor appearing in the new live-action trailer tonight, there will likely be plenty of buzz heading into the November 13 release date.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
