Media Molecule reveals Tearaway

Tearaway

Media Molecule, the developer behind the LittleBigPlanet franchise, revealed its next project earlier today at Gamescom. Few details were given at that time, but now a blog post on the company’s website has doled out more information.

Tearaway, a 3D adventure game for the PlayStation Vita, stars an adorable envelope-headed messenger named iota. This creature carries a message unique to each player, and it’s up to gamers to team up with iota and discover the contents of the envelope.

In addition to the standard 3D platforming fare, Media Molecule promises “god-like powers inherent to someone who can hold an entire world in their giant hands” – the paper world that iota hails from to be more specific.

The blog post also went on to highlight the Vita’s unique controls, which will help create a game in which players “can literally get stuck in using all of PS Vita’s novel inputs like backtouch, tilt sensors, camera, and microphone to connect you to iota and the paper world.”

Tearaway‘s Gamescom announcement trailer can be viewed below, and future information will likely make its way to the game’s official website.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
