With all the high budget, AAA modern First-Person Shooter titles on the market today it’s hard to imagine any title that could rival the big names in the industry with a downloadable title, but Gameloft aims to do just that.

Known mostly for iOS game development, Gameloft is branching out with their first foray into HD console gaming with Modern Combat: Domination, a strictly multiplayer shooter experience only on the PlayStation Network. If it sounds like this game is in direct competition with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Medal of Honor, and Battlefield Bad Company 2, that’s because it admittedly is.

"We come with a different multiplayer experience compared to what we always see now in contemporary military FPS," said the game’s producer Arnaud in an interview on the PlayStation.Blog. "It offers great graphics, addictive gameplay and a price that is far less expensive thanks to being offered on PSN instead of a traditional box title. I believe it will please players on PSN!"

The price in question, as mentioned in the trailer, is a mere $8. That’s right, Modern Combat: Domination can be had for less than a sixth of a price of most any other modern shooter. But Gameloft’s offering features PlayStation Move compatibility, a fact that the developer is sure to take full advantage of.

The announcement of the game comes as quite a surprise, as the title is set to release just next month. But Gameloft assures PlayStation owners that the game is fully fleshed out with all the bells and whistles they’ve come to expect from FPS multiplayer titles.
