OnLive to offer free system with Duke Nukem Forever pre-order

Duke Nukem Forever

OnLive, the on-demand and streaming videogame service, will have another big title in its lineup soon. OnLive, Inc. revealed today in a press release that Duke Nukem Forever will be coming to the cloud-based gaming platform, along with a generous pre-order bonus.

The press release states, "In addition, every customer who pre-orders Duke Nukem Forever will receive a coupon immediately redeemable for an OnLive Game System or one free OnLive game."

Obviously the free game is for anyone who already owns the system, but those who don’t will be receiving a $99 value for free. That also includes the MicroConsole TV adapter and a wireless controller.

John Spinale, OnLive’s vice president of Games & Media, expressed his company’s excitement about the announcement.

"The satirical and action-packed gameplay of the Duke Nukem brand makes it a fantastic fit for next-level, easy-access gaming on the OnLive service," he said. "Members can laugh, taunt and quote Duke-isms in real-time as they battle alien invaders stealing Earth’s women. This title is all about laugh-out-loud, engaging action-and we’re excited to bring the ‘King of all shooters’ to our members."

Duke Nukem Forever is set for a June 14 release date, and the game will launch on the OnLive Game Service that same day.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
