Titan Quest creators look to Kickstarter to help fund ‘spiritual successor’

Grim Dawn

The Double Fine adventure project has helped spur a Kickstarter craze throughout the videogame industry, and now key members of the team behind 2007’s Titan Quest are joining in on the fun.

Crate Entertainment is seeking $280,000 to help create Grim Dawn, a “spiritual successor” to Titan Quest. According to the game’s Kickstarter page, Grim Dawn is an action-RPG with an open-world environment, randomized gear, and “meaningful quest choices.”

As with all Kickstarter projects, there are some noteworthy rewards for those willing to dole out extra cash. They include special editions, a book with background information on the Grim Dawn world, and the opportunity to help create a sidequest to be included in the game.

As of right now Grim Dawn has already received over $100,000 in pledges with 30 days left until the May 18 deadline. At this rate, it’s looking like PC gamers will have a new title to look forward to in 2013.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
