Tomb Raider to have multiplayer?

Tomb Raider

Developer Crystal Dynamics recently announced Tomb Raider, a reboot of the popular franchise. An entirely new look and an emphasis on survival have been highlighted, but multiplayer may be playing a part in the series’ new direction as well.

Crystal Dynamics is looking for a producer to help manage the multiplayer aspect of an upcoming game. On Gamasutra they posted a job listing with the following description:

"Crystal Dynamics is looking for a talented, enthusiastic, and highly organized individual with demonstrable project management experience to take on a major production role in the multi-player part of an upcoming action adventure title. For this role, we are looking for an individual with outstanding communication skills and a proven track record in production, having successfully produced or managed a team designing multi-player parts of an AAA title."

The listing’s ties to Tomb Raider are pure speculation at this point, but the "AAA title" description could very well point to Lara Croft’s newest adventure. It wouldn’t be a huge shock considering multiplayer was introduced to the series for the first time this year with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and its focus on co-op.

UPDATE: The job posting has been removed from Gamasutra.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
