Tri-Ace announce 3DS and PSP games

Resonance of Fate

Tri-Ace, the team behind the Star Ocean franchise and more recently Resonance of Fate, are now setting their sites on portable gaming with two new projects for the 3DS and PSP, and Japanese magazine Famitsu has the latest details.

The PSP title is called Frontier Gate, which is said to be similar in style to the Monster Hunter series. The key difference is that the game will feature turn-based battles instead of real-time gameplay. Multiplayer will also be included for up to three players.

Beyond the Labyrinth is the name of the new 3DS title. It is a 3D dungeon RPG that will feature a young girl as the main protagonist. Takayuki Suguro, who was the director of Resonance of Fate and Valkyrie Profile 2, will be handling that same role for the 3DS release.

Frontier Gate has been confirmed for 2011, while Beyond the Labyrinth has no specific release date yet. Both titles are being published by Konami.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
