Apple television set info fuels Apple-Valve console speculation

A concept image for a combination Apple iTV and iMac hybrid device.

Last week we reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook was seen at Valve headquarters in Bellevue, WA. Well, we’ve got some more news/rumors for your ever anxious ear holes.

We’ve known for a while now that Apple would be releasing a television that would function much like its wonderful AppleTV device. The new TV would have voice command technology and would be iTunes integrated, releasing at the end of this year.

But sources at Cult of Mac have revealed that the new TV would come with a “Kinect-like video game console”, bringing the rumors of an Apple-Valve gaming system closer to fruition than ever before.

It’s not a coincidence that this TV/game console will be coming out at the end of the year, right when our first dip into the next gen systems starts up with the Wii U. In addition, a Siri-like voice command technology could be referring to what was seen with Kinect’s voice commands in Mass Effect 3 (and soon in Skyrim as well).

It seems that gamers might have a fourth console competing for their affections come this next generation.

Are you even remotely interested in seeing a new console this generation? Let us know below.
