Male and female gamers are equally competitive

competitiveWorldWinner, an online game competition provider, conducted a survey which yielded results that male and female gamers are equally competitive in gaming competitions.

The survey, titled the 2007 WorldWinner Gender and Competition Survey, revealed that an equal percent, 73% to be exact, of men and women described themselves as competitive or very competitive gamers.

While 61% of males and over 50% of women in the study are driven to win in competitive video games while 39% of women seek out competition more frequently than men (31%). In fact, 45% of men are just plain happy to be competitive only a few times a week.

Lorne Abony, CEO of Fun Technologies (parent company of WorldWinner), said, "Men are often stereotypically viewed as more competitive, but our survey revealed what we experience on WorldWinner every day: that both sexes enjoy friendly, casual competition against anyone who’s willing to take them on."
