Star Wars Battlefront III an Xbox 360 Exclusive, For Now

Looks like Star Wars fans will soon be donning their Storm Trooper helmets again, courtesy of Star Wars Battlefront III. Videogamesblogger noticed in the March issue of UK magazine PlayStation World that LucasArts green-lighted the third game and hired developer Free Radical Design (TimeSplitters series, Second Sight, Haze) to handle game development. According to the article, the game will be an Xbox 360 exclusive, but since the information was reported in a PlayStation magazine, one could safely assume that it’ll be jumping to other platforms in the future. The game is expected by year’s end.

If Free Radical Design could implement some of the techniques used in the classic N64 game Goldeneye (FRD’s core team developed the game), then that would certainly boost up Star Wars Battlefront III‘s presence in the online world. Pandemic Studios developed both Star Wars Battlefront I and II, both of which were released on PC, Xbox, and PS2.
