SWTOR will be available in your region (kind of)

Earlier this month, fans of upcoming BioWare MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic lit up the game’s forums with complaints after the developer let slip that it "cannot commit to any timeframe” for release in regions outside of North America and Europe. To ease tensions amongst its vocal fanbase, Senior Online Community Manager Stephen Reid reassured gamers that BioWare has no plans to ‘region lock’ or ‘IP block’ players from the game.

Players outside of the launch territories may experience some unavoidable latency, however.

“Anyone who pre-orders The Old Republic and redeems their pre-order code will be eligible for Early Game Access," Reid explained. "Those eligible for Early Game Access will be able to download the game client before it starts."

Reid went on to say that there will be a period after launch day in which those who have pre-ordered the game will be able to continue playing before entering their Game Code, and that more information on this will be made available closer to launch. He also clarified that credit card payments will be accepted for subscriptions, though pricing has yet to be announced.

SWTOR is currently scheduled to launch this fall on PC and Mac.
