Mass Effect 3

It’s no surprise that Mass Effect 3 has been doing well since its release earlier this week, and now a press release from EA and Bioware has revealed some statistics regarding the game’s early success.

A total of 3.5 million copies have been shipped worldwide, making Mass Effect 3 the biggest entertainment launch of 2012. In addition, EA CEO John Riccitiello recently stated that 890,000 units were sold during the first 24 hours of release in North America.

Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder and general manager of BioWare, expressed his company’s excitement regarding the praise for Mass Effect 3 so far.

“We have been truly humbled by the amazing response from fans and critics for Mass Effect 3,” he said. “The game is a gripping, engaging experience where the decisions and choices you make will truly stay with you for the months and years ahead. We are all incredibly proud of Casey Hudson and the teams in Edmonton and Montreal for delivering the best game BioWare has ever made.”

Mass Effect 3 has been lauded by many critics as a fitting end to the Commander Shepard trilogy. Keep an eye out for GamerNode’s review in the coming weeks.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
