Big news earlier this morning from Microsoft and Bungie, as it’s been confirmed the Halo 3 multiplayer beta will be available Wednesday, May 16 at 5 A.M. PST and run until June 6.
The beta will contain three maps, Valhalla, High Ground and Snowbound. According to the release, they’ll be available only in Matchmaking play (it is testing, after all). Several new features and guns will be available, but it looks like Bungie’s going to keep a lot of the stuff hidden until the retail release draws closer.
The May 16 date is the official release date for anyone who purchased Crackdown or got selected for the Halo 3 beta through previous contests. Like other betas, an Xbox Live Gold account is required.
