The Walking Dead getting retail release, second season

The Walking Dead

Telltale has once again proven its worth as an episodic game developer with the first two entries in The Walking Dead series. Episode 3 will be coming in August, but now fans have something else to look forward to.

Following the digital launch of the fifth and final episode, The Walking Dead will be heading to retail stores across North America with all five episodes included in one convenient package.

The good news doesn’t stop there though. Steve Allison, senior vice president of marketing at Telltale Games, also promised even more entries in The Walking Dead series.

“Following the digital release of our fifth episode we will also be coming to North American retail shortly thereafter and this will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do,” he explained.

The Walking Dead has received plenty of critical acclaim and Allison also mentioned how the game has sold 1.7 million episodes in its first eight weeks. With that being the case, the promise of more content can only be good news.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
