Kojima: Snake isn’t old in new Metal Gear

Hideo Kojima alleves worries of a geriatric Naked Snake.

When the impressive first gameplay trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes hit the Web earlier this week, Snake a.k.a. Big Boss seemed like he was getting up in years thanks to what appeared to be gray hairs. This created a bit of confusion that series creator Hideo Kojima has put to rest today, reaffirming that Snake is yet to hit his elder years in the new title.

“I’m seeing a lot of tweets about how when Snake takes off his goggles, he’s old-looking because of his gray hairs,” Kojima wrote via Twitter. “That, however, is just the backlighting making them look gray.”

Well, that clears things up. The difference can be seen when comparing a screenshot of the video to the promotional photo for the game, which we’ve provided above.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes uses Kojima Productions’ new FOX Engine and will launch for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Exactly when that launch will be is currently unknown.

What are you looking forward to the most in Ground Zeroes? Is the prospect of taking on the role of Naked Snake yet again exciting or disappointing? Let us know in the comments section below!
