Analyst predicts 360 price drop! We'll see…

xbox 360 price dropWith the news hitting the airwaves of Sony handing out a price cut for the PlayStation 3, industry analysts are estimating that Microsoft will follow suit for the Xbox 360. Of course, price cuts will continue attracting customers to each company’s respective console but the Xbox 360 is way ahead of sales than the PlayStation 3.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter expects that the recently released Xbox 360 Elite will drop from $479 USD to $399 USD, the premium Xbox 360 package will drop from $399 USD to $349 USD and the core Xbox 360 package will drop from $299 USD to $249 USD.

There’s currently no expected date for these drops to happen.

Pachter stated, "We think that the console manufacturers will continue to cut price as their production costs come down, and expect sales to ramp significantly this holiday season."

As for Nintendo and the Wii and DS, Pachter stated, "…as sales for both are still very strong and are anticipated to remain so through the end of the year."

Hopefully these expectations are, well, somewhat true because consumers certainly don’t like to be messed around with when it comes to price drops. Also let’s not pull a Sony and hint at a price drop, then deny it and when hard evidence is revealed about the price drop, to continue to deny it.
